Senior Software Engineer
Job Brief
Dignio is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the cloud platform that manages our fleet of connected devices. Our medicine dispensers and other hardware sit in patients' homes and depend on the cloud to stay configured, updated, monitored, and secure, and to exchange data with Dignio Prevent, the platform care providers use to follow up with their patients. You will design and build the services that make that work reliably.
This is a hands-on role in a small team where your work goes into production and stays there. You will own features end to end, from design through implementation to running them in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate backend services in Dignio's device management cloud.
Implement the capabilities our hardware depends on, including device provisioning, configuration management, telemetry, and over-the-air updates.
Build security into the services you own, including authentication, access control, and the secure handling of device credentials, certificates, and keys.
Write clean, well-tested code and participate in design and code reviews across the team.
Keep the services you own reliable and observable, and help ensure devices behave correctly over unreliable connections.
Work closely with the embedded and Android teams on the interfaces between device and cloud.
Build and maintain the integration between the device management cloud and Dignio Prevent, our platform for care providers, so that device data and configuration flow reliably between them.
Investigate production issues, find root causes, and fix them.
Contribute to the team's engineering practices around testing, deployment, and monitoring.
Stay updated on and conduct all tasks in compliance with the Dignio Quality Management System and Information Security Management System.
Person Specifications and Experience
Solid experience building and operating production backend systems.
Strong hands-on skills in modern backend development, API design, and data modeling.
Practical experience with a major cloud platform, CI/CD, and observability tooling, and a good understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
Experience building systems that manage or communicate with physical devices, such as IoT platforms or other connected products, is a significant advantage.
Awareness of security fundamentals, including authentication, access control, and handling of certificates and keys.
Comfortable owning a piece of the system end-to-end and making sensible trade-offs without waiting to be told.
A pragmatic engineer who enjoys working across team boundaries and is motivated to improve patient outcomes through technology.
