Job Brief

Dignio is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join the team developing the electronics in our connected medication dispensers. You will take designs from architecture and component selection through schematic, layout, and prototyping into volume production with our manufacturing partners, working closely with test and verification engineers, embedded software, and mechanical design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design schematics and PCB layouts for reliable, manufacturable circuit boards.

  • Select and qualify electronic components focused on long-term availability, cost, and performance, and manage obsolescence and second sourcing for products in production.

  • Build and test prototypes to validate functionality, reliability, and compliance with requirements.

  • Contribute to certification and regulatory testing, addressing EMI/EMC, safety, and wireless performance.

  • Prepare manufacturing documentation and work with our contract manufacturer to bring designs into production, resolving issues as they arise.

  • Manage design changes to shipping products, including their impact on safety, performance, compliance, and risk analysis.

  • Work closely with embedded software, mechanical, and test engineers so hardware, firmware, and enclosure come together as one product.

  • Maintain hardware design records in our PLM system so they are traceable and meet medical device requirements.

  • Stay updated on and conduct all tasks in compliance with the Dignio Quality Management System and Information Security Management System.

Person Specifications and Experience

  • Substantial experience designing electronics that have shipped in volume, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and hardware validation.

  • Experience taking designs into production through contract manufacturers, and supporting them once there.

  • Good understanding of wireless connectivity, including antenna integration and EMC design considerations.

  • Experience with regulatory and certification processes for electronic products, ideally in medical devices or another safety-critical field.

  • Experience maintaining design documentation in a PLM system.

  • A collaborative, detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a cross-functional team and is motivated to improve patient outcomes through technology.
